"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.”
The most difficult thing a Pastor has to do is “To Preach The Word” without being intimidated by who it may hit. No Pastor enjoys bringing people’s sins to the light. It would be much easier to just tell them they are alright, regardless of the sin in their life.
We see this becoming more and more common in the Church today. This is exactly why Paul warned young Timothy of this danger in our Scripture today. I well remember the great evangelist of days gone by, Sam Jones, who said, “When I first began preaching, my greatest fear
was that I might make someone mad. But in my later days of preaching, my greatest fear is that I might not.”
One time when a rather stubborn man simply would not see the point Abraham Lincoln was trying to make, Lincoln said, “Alright, now how many legs does a cow have?”
